Dora F. (Tann) Adler

 

Dora Frances Marie, the daughter of John and Jennie (Moore) Tann, was born August 31, 1915 in Fayette, Iowa.  She graduated from Fayette High School in 1933.  Dora was united in marriage with Walter Adler in May of 1962 at Elgin, Minnesota.  Dora was a professional cook in many restaurants in the Elgin area.  After Walter’s death in 1985, Dora returned to Fayette.  She worked as a housekeeper for Dr. Linge and Joe Wright.

            Dora’s death occurred Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union, Iowa, after a short illness.  She was ninety-three years old.  Dora was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fayette.  She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, especially teaching her grandson how to play “Kings in the Corner”, drinking coffee and visiting with friends, and buying vegetables from the Amish.

            Dora is survived by her son, Jerry Tann of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one grandson, Kevin Tann of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one great grandson, David Tann of Fort Dodge, Iowa; and many loved nieces and nephews.

            Dora was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; one daughter-in-law, Rosie Tann; her parents; two sisters, Elizabeth Winter and Elsie Kervanek; five brothers, Robert, Elmer, George, Sion, and Bill Tann; and a special nephew, Bob Tann.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Grace Lutheran Church, Fayette, Iowa conducted by Rev. Timothy Parker. Internment will be at Grandview Cemetery, Fayette. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Grace Lutheran Church on Saturday.  Memorials may be made to the church or to Camp Courageous.
