Barbara Jane Miller, the daughter of Joseph A. and Bernice (Roth) Miller, was born June 26, 1958 in Oelwein, Iowa.  She was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Church in Oelwein.  She attended school in Oelwein and Starmont and graduated from Starmont High School in 1976.  Barb married Jeffrey Spragg. They later divorced.  Barb then married Ricky Kamp.  They later divorced.  Barb worked at Powers Manufacturing in Sumner for three years and at Schemmel’s Family Foods in Sumner for nine years.

            Barb’s death occurred Sunday, March 8, 2009 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Sumner after a lengthy battle with cancer.  She was fifty years old.  Barb enjoyed crocheting, craft work, and fishing.

            Barb is survived by her mother, Bernice Miller of Arlington, Iowa; her special friend, Dave Timmer, of Sumner, Iowa; one son, Jason (Sarah) Spragg of Billings, Montana; one daughter, Kristin (William) Dooley of Oelwein, Iowa; five grandchildren; three brothers, Eugene (Julie) Miller of Dundee, Iowa; Jerome (Sharon) Miller of Manchester, Iowa; and Lawrence (Dawn) Miller of Rowley, Iowa; three sisters, Marcella Greco of Oelwein, Iowa; Sharon Monnahan of Black River Falls, Wisconsin; and Suzanne (Clifford) Johnson of Millston, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.

            Barb was preceded in death by her father, Joseph, who died February 7, 2006.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Sumner, Iowa conducted by Rev. William Runaas, Jr. Interment will be at Wilson Grove Cemetery, rural Sumner. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner and one hour before services at the funeral home on Thursday.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
