Keith E. Dahlstrom

 

            Keith Eugene, the son of Lester and Delight (Hahn) Dahlstrom, was born January 12, 1937 on a farm near Ionia, Iowa.  He attended country school in Chickasaw County.  Keith served in the United States Army from December of 1959 until March of 1963.  Keith was united in marriage with Cheryl Mason on September 20, 1964 at the Ripley Congregational Church in Traer, Iowa.  He worked at John Deere in Waterloo, Iowa until his retirement in 1997.  Prior to working at John Deere, he worked at Wiseman Steel, Schultz Manufacturing, and Waterloo Unloader, all in Waterloo.

            Keith’s death occurred Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, from natural causes.  He was seventy-two years old.  Keith was a member of Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli.  He enjoyed restoring old tractors, working on small engines, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.

            Keith is survived by his wife, Cheryl, of Tripoli; six children, Steve (Dawn) Dahlstrom of Tripoli; Sandy (Scott) Brandt of Waverly, Iowa; Debbie (Chris) Rustad of Tripoli; Barb (Rusty) Wright of Tripoli; Jenny (Jason Woodring) Dahlstrom of Fredericksburg, Iowa; and Brenda (Dirk) Cuypers of Janesville, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren; two brothers, Dennis (Judy) Dahlstrom of Waverly; and Kenny (Bonnie) Dahlstrom of Waverly; and two sisters, Carol Stevens of Waterloo; and Marge Dahlstrom of Cedar Falls, Iowa.

            Keith was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Dahlstrom, who died April 28, 1967; and his parents.  

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 23, 2009, at Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli with Rev. Marilyn Sargent officiating. Burial will be at Faith United Church of Christ Cemetery in Tripoli with military rites by Brandenburg-Krueger V.F.W. Post #4013 of Tripoli. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2009, at Rettig Funeral Home in Tripoli and for one hour preceding services at the church on Saturday.  Memorials may be made to Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli.

So sorry for your loss. Cheryl, remember the good times we had when our kids were little. You guys lived in Waterloo and then out in country by Tripoli. Many memories. Please feel free to call if you need anything. Geri
