David Lee Anderson, son of Harry LaVern and Cecil Mae Appleman Anderson, was born September 22, 1950, at West Union, Iowa. He attended grade school at Randalia and graduated in 1968 from West Central High School at Maynard. He served with the U.S. Army from June 6, 1970 to December 31, 1971.
A lifetime resident of the Hawkeye and West Union areas, he worked for 19 years at Norby’s Farm Fleet in West Union before ill health forced him to retire.
David’s death occurred on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 59 years old.
He is survived by two brothers, Jim (Nadine) Anderson and Earl (Jacquie) Anderson, both of Hawkeye; three sisters, Faye Latta of Winchester, Virginia, Margaret (Jim) Vargason of Weslaco, Texas, and Mavis (Brad) Kimbrell of Mount Airy, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Mille Anderson of Donna, Texas and Vivian Guyer of West Union; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert, Roy, and Arthur; and a brother-in-law, Harry Latta.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at the Hawkeye Community Hall in Hawkeye. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 17, 2010, at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Hawkeye and for one hour preceding services at the Community Hall on Tuesday. Interment will be at Dunham Grove Cemetery in rural Randalia with military rites by Arnold-Rogers Post #312, American Legion of Hawkeye.
