Dale William Krueger, son of Herman and Rose Sievers Krueger, was born September 27, 1927, at Sumner, Iowa. He was baptized in Leroy Township and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli. He served with the U.S. Army as a corporal in the Airborne Battalion, Company I, at Fort Benning, Georgia.
On May 15, 1955, he was united in marriage with Jo Ann Adelmund at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli. Dale worked as service manager for over forty years at Buhr Chevrolet in Tripoli and also owned two businesses, Krueger Small Engine Repair and Main Street Antiques. Dale had lived in Tripoli for many years and spent the last seven years in Minnesota under the care of his daughter, Kathy and grandsons, Luke and Jake.
Dale’s death occurred on Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Methodist Hospital in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, following a lengthy illness. He was 81 years old and a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with his family. He had a private pilot license and enjoyed flying. Dale had served on the Tripoli Town Council, Grace Lutheran Church Council, had been an active member of the Wapsi Sportsman Club, and had co-chaired the Sportsman Club’s Fish Fry Committee.
Dale is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Tammy Krueger of Stevens Point, Wisconsin; one daughter, Kathy Krueger of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Blake Teeling and his wife, Sunny, Luke Brockway, Wade Krueger, and Jake Brockway; one great grandchild, Jamie Teeling; and one brother, Duane Krueger and his wife, Louise of Tripoli.
He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn, who died on January 31, 2002; his parents; and one brother, Donald Krueger.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 14, 2009, at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli with Rev. Miles Renaas officiating. Burial will be at Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Tripoli with military rites by Brandenburg-Krueger V.F.W. Post #4013 of Tripoli. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Rettig Funeral Home in Tripoli and for one hour preceding services at the church preceding services.
