Elmer Buhr was President of the North Fayette Board of Educaton, and it was my pleasure to serve as coach, teacher, and principal in the district. The key word I use for Elmer is loyalty. He gave loyalty and expected (rightfully) loyalty in return. He stopped in many times in my office to visit about the school, farming, and events of the day. He was especially loyal to the Ameican Legion. Elmer was a gentleman at all times, with very strong and obvious emotional ties to his family, church, school, community and nation. He also was quietly humorous and told me jokes when he visited. Simply, a very good man!

Hello to the Elmer Buhr family. Please accept my condolences on the loss of your loved one, Elmer Buhr. I fondly remember serving with Elmer on the Keystone AEA Board of Directors. He was a quiet, effective, knowledgable board member...someone experienced, who always contributed his fair share in all board activities. We were better for his participation, and missed him, once his board service ended. It was also my privilege to work with daughter Nancy at the Decorah hospital...again, an enriching experience. My saddest regards...Bill.
