Frances R. Hoepfner

 

          Frances Regina, the daughter of Gustav and Eva (Monroe) Rueber, was born July 23, 1917 in Harlan Township, Fayette County, Iowa.  She was baptized August 5, 1917 by Pastor Fr. Kreutz and confirmed May 24, 1931 by Rev. Otto C. Schultz at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Westgate, Iowa.  She attended the St. Peter Lutheran Parochial School and graduated from the Maynard High School in 1935.  Frances was united in marriage with Frederick W. Hoepfner on April 26, 1937 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Westgate, by Rev. Otto C. Schultz.  Fred and Frances farmed northeast of Sumner, Iowa, in Banks Township, for many years.

            Frances’ death occurred Sunday, April 19, 2009 at the Hillcrest Home in Sumner, from natural causes.  She was ninety-one years old.  Frances was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church (Richfield), rural Sumner, and was also a member of the St. Peters WELCA.  Frances enjoyed embroidery, gardening, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

            Frances is survived by her son, Herbert (Marilyn) Hoepfner of Sumner, Iowa; six grandchildren, David Keding; Mark Hoepfner; Penny Korporal; Kelly Sirota; Christine Fosselman; and Jeff Hoepfner; thirteen great grandchildren, Kerri Korporal Kent; Brittnee Korporal; Ryan Korporal; Sarah Korporal; Erin Fosselman; Luke Fosselman; Christian Fosselman; Rachel Sirota; Ian Sirota; Riley Hoepfner; Joseph Hoepfner; Coleman Keding; and Elijah Keding; and one brother, Warren Rueber of Westgate, Iowa.

            Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; her daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Max Keding; and three brothers, Alfred Ross Rueber; Ralph Rueber, and Max Rueber.     

            Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 23, 2009, at St. Peters Lutheran Church (Richfield), rural Sumner with Rev. Harold Peterson as the officiant. Committal services will be held at Wilson Grove Cemetery, rural Sumner, Iowa.  Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner and for one hour preceding services at the church on Thursday.

I remember doing a 4-H demonstration with Penny years ago.
