Louise Catherine (Olson) Kerr, daughter of Walter and Julia (Eble) Olson, was born September 19, 1923, in Pocahontas County, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Elfsburg Lutheran Church in Pomeroy, Iowa. She attended country school and graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1941. She continued her education and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1943.

         On April 6, 1947, she was united in marriage with James D. Kerr at Elfsburg Lutheran Church in Pomeroy. Louise taught school for two years at Palmer, two years at Osage, and two years at Frederika. She assisted her husband on their farm in the Frederika area for many years prior to moving into Tripoli.

         A resident of the Tripoli Nursing Home for almost three years, her death occurred there on Friday, April 2, 2010, from natural causes. She was 86 years old and had been a longtime member of the Frederika United Methodist Church where she had taught Sunday School and been a member of the U.M.W. She had been active in the Women’s Club, the Farm Bureau Women, was a longtime 4-H leader, and had been active with the Cancer Society. Her hobbies included painting pictures, knitting, traveling, and taking pictures.

         In addition to her husband, James of Tripoli, she is survived by two daughters, Julia (Kenny) Hennings of Tripoli and Linda (Kevin) Monnier of Ionia; seven grandchildren, Angela (Douglas) Daniels, Michelle (Douglas) White, Daniel (Tiane) Hennings, and Chelse, Kirk, Trevor, and Beth Monnier; and six great grandchildren, Isabelle and Theodore Daniels, Aria and Alexa White, and Sylvia and Simon Hennings.

         Louise was preceded in death by one son, Steven J. Kerr; one grandson, Shawn Kerr; and her parents.

          Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at the Frederika United Methodist Church. Pastor Sheryl Hull will be the officiant. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m., until 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 5, 2010 at Rettig Funeral Home in Tripoli and for one hour preceding services at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be at Alcock Cemetery, Frederika, Iowa.
