Lillian M. Robb

Lillian Marie Robb, the daughter of Emmett and Ruth (Mead) Holcomb, was born January 6, 1922 in Lime Springs, Iowa.  She graduated from Lime Springs High School in 1939.  Lillian was united in marriage with Lyle H. Robb on July 5, 1947 in Papillion, Nebraska.  They resided in Des Moines, Iowa until July of 1960, when they moved to Fayette, Iowa after purchasing University Cleaners, which they operated together until 1990.

Lillian’s death occurred Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette, after a long illness.  She was eighty-eight years old.  Lillian was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fayette.  After her husband’s death, Lillian volunteered at several places, including Maple Crest Manor and Prairieview in Fayette, Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union, and Grandview Nursing Home and the Oelwein Healthcare Center in Oelwein.  In her free time Lillian enjoyed reading, knitting, and sewing.  She also liked to play cards and go dancing.  She was very proud of and enjoyed her children and great grandchildren.

Lillian is survived by a daughter, Susan (Stan) Woodson, and a son, Steven Robb both of Fayette; five grandchildren, Brent (Amy) Woodson of Fayette, Brooke (Mark) Ruehle of Des Moines, Iowa, Brandi (Billy) Shrubb of West Union, Seth Robb of Newport News, Virginia, and Charles Stay of Portland Oregon; six great grandchildren, Ethan, Baylie, Gabe, Brennen, Jake, and Allie; and one sister, Laura Cornell of Tipton, Iowa.

Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle, who died December 26, 1990, her parents, one great grandchild, Aaron Woodson, and one brother, Wilbur Holcomb.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 4, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church in Fayette, with Rev. Jason Princer officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until service time, Saturday, September 4, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church in Fayette. Inurnment will be at Grandview Cemetery, Fayette.
