Linn George Roberts, son of George Linn and Florence Staack Roberts, was born January 26, 1950, at Sumner, Iowa. He was baptized on March 26, 1950 at the home of his grandparents in Sumner by Rev. Nagler. He was later confirmed in Martensdale, Iowa in 1964.
He graduated from Titonka High School in 1968 and the University of Iowa in 1972. He served with the U.S. Army from 1972 to 1974.
Linn’s death occurred at his home in Urbandale on November 1, 2009, from natural causes. He had been employed as an assistant manager with the Quik Trip Company for the past 25 years before retiring in 2009. He enjoyed playing bridge and attended the horse races at Prairie Meadows in Altoona.
He is survived by a sister, Susan (David) Price of Waterloo; three nieces, Teresa Price, Joann Price, and Barbara Price, all of Waterloo; a nephew, John Price of Denver, Colorado; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Becker-Milnes Funeral Chapel, Sumner, Iowa with Rev. George Volkert officiating. Friends may call for one hour before services at the chapel on Saturday. Inurnment will follow at Union Mound Cemetery with military rites provided by Thomas E. Woods Post #223, American Legion of Sumner. Memorials may be given in his name to the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society (800) 347-1074 or the American Diabetes Association.
