Byron E. Munk

 

Byron Elmer, son of James and Dorothy Freed Massey, was born March 27, 1943, at Seattle, Washington. He was later adopted by Elmer and Laura Munk. He received his education in the Oroville Schools, graduating from high school in 1961. He later served with the U.S. Navy Seabees during the Vietnam War.
            He was married to Mary Jane Bean and later divorced. On May 24, 1980, he was united in marriage with Eloyce Farrill at Santa Cruz, California. Byron worked construction, was a mechanic, worked for Readlyn Farm Automation, Sumner High School, and Southern Classic Trailer Manufacturing prior to retiring in 2006.
            His death occurred at his home in Sumner on Saturday, August 22, 2009, following a brief illness. He was 66 years old. He was a member of the Brandenburg-Krueger Post #4013, V.F.W. of Tripoli and Thomas E. Woods Post #223, American Legion of Sumner.
            He is survived by one son, Clint (Beth) Munk of Readlyn; four daughters, Marcella (Ron) Manago of Oroville, California, Jenny Fox of Sumner, Kristina (Nick) Chavera-Munk of Seaside, Oregon, and Katy Munk (fiance, John) of Fredericksburg; thirteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; four sisters, Sharon, Colleen, Felicia, and Janee; and his special friend, Lavearl Waterman of Sumner.
            He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloyce in 2005; his parents; and one brother, Edward Thornton.
            Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sumner with Rev. Jim Brokman officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m., to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner and for one preceding services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Sumner.
