Phyllis Marie Eichmann, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Zander) Hankner, was born December 12, 1918 in Fremont Township, Bremer County, Iowa. She graduated from Tripoli High School in 1936 and Pitzi’s Beauty School in Waterloo, Iowa. Phyllis was united in marriage with Clifford Eichmann on November 25, 1937 at St. Peter’s Evangelical Church in Tripoli. Clifford preceded her in death in 1989. Phyllis owned and operated a beauty salon in Tripoli for more than sixty years, retiring in 2003. After her retirement, Phyllis moved to her daughter’s home in Waverly, Iowa, where she currently lived.
Phyllis’ death occurred Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at the Waverly Health Center in Waverly, Iowa, from natural causes. She was ninety one years old. Phyllis was a longtime member of Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli and the Brandenburg-Krueger V.F.W. Ladie's Auxiliary in Tripoli. Phyllis enjoyed bowling, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Joy (Larry) Busse of Waverly, Iowa; four grandchildren, Pamela Peters of North Liberty, Iowa; Kent (Paula) Busse of Long Beach, California; Patricia Greer of Yorba Linda, California; and Perry (Mary Jo) Busse of Rochester Hills, Michigan; nine great grandchildren, Eric Peters, Daniel Greer, Samantha Greer, Brett Busse, Sarah Greer, Michael Busse, Brooke Busse, Sydney Busse, and Alexis Benavides.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; her parents; one brother, Robert Hankner; and two sisters, Mildred Ambrose and Dorothy Syverson.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 1, 2010, at Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli with Rev. Marilyn Sargent officiating. Internment will be held at Faith United Church of Christ Cemetery in Tripoli. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 1, 2010, at Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli.
