Elnora A. Rieck

 

          Elnora Anna, the daughter of Fred and Anna (Popenhagen) Nuss, was born February 17, 1921 in Hawkeye, Iowa.  She was baptized May 13, 1921 and confirmed June 23, 1935 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawkeye.  Elnora was united in marriage with Arthur H. Rieck on February 8, 1939 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawkeye.  Arthur preceded her in death on March 30, 1979.

            Elnora’s death occurred Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the Hillcrest Home in Sumner, Iowa, after a long illness.  She was eighty-eight years old.  Elnora was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner.  She enjoyed gardening, baking cookies, and spending time with her grandchildren.

            Elnora is survived by two daughters, Elaine (Dan) Jorgensen of Audubon, Iowa; and Sharon (Don) Tisue of Sumner, Iowa; five sons, David (Patricia) Rieck of Riverside, Iowa; Arlin (Marcia) Rieck of Sumner, Iowa; Gary (Jan) Rieck of Waverly, Iowa; Tom (June) Rieck of Fredericksburg, Iowa and Kevin ( fiancée, Sandi) Rieck of New Hampton, Iowa; one daughter-in-law, Jeanne Rieck of Ames, Iowa; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Nuss of Sumner, Iowa; and Marjorie Nuss of Oelwein, Iowa.

            Elnora was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; one son, Donald A. Rieck; one grandson, David J. Jorgensen; her parents; two brothers, Howard and George Nuss; and one sister, Marian Seehase.

            Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 17, 2009 at St. John Lutheran Church, Sumner, with Rev. William A. Runaas, Jr. as the officiant.  Burial will be held in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg, Iowa.  Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner and one hour before services at the church on Friday.
