F. Joseph (Joe) Troutman, son of Harley, Sr. and Marguerite Christensen Troutman, was born February 8, 1938, in Algona, Iowa. He received his education in the rural school system and attended high school in Algona, graduating in 1955. He received a BA in education in 1959 from Iowa State Teacher’s College, and a DVM in 1964 from Iowa State University.
He was united in marriage with Diane Lindstrom on June 8, 1957, at Good Hope Methodist Church in rural Algona.
Doc practiced large animal medicine in Klemme, Adel, Sumner, and Plainfield for nearly thirty years. He has been the regulatory veterinarian at the Dubuque Greyhound Track for the past ten and one half years, and for the past five years, he and his wife have made their home in Manchester.
His death occurred on Friday, July 17, 2009, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics from complications of a brain aneurism. He was 71 years old.
In addition to his wife of Manchester, he is survived by his children, Amy and Bill Pipho of Green Lake, WI., Todd and Andrea (Reynolds) Troutman of Dyersville, IA, Meg and Kurt Volker of Sumner, IA, Katy and Craig Warnke of Clarion, IA, Jill and Barry Meyer of Sumner, IA, Dirk and Beth (Ballandby) Troutman of Carroll, IA, and Josh and Wendy (Ganske) Troutman of Rowley, IA.; thirty grandchildren; four great grandchildren; his brother and wife, Harley, Jr. and Jan Troutman of Barboursville, VA., his brother-in-law and wife, Frank and Lois Lindstrom of LuVerne, MN; three nephews and two nieces.
Joe will be most remembered as a man of great faith and love, which he delighted in sharing with his family and numerous friends. Faith and family were the cornerstones of his life.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 20, 2009, at the United Methodist Church in Sumner. There will be no visitation, but the family will greet friends for one hour preceding services at the church on Monday. Private family committal service will be held at Wilson Grove Cemetery in Sumner. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that remembrances or memorials be sent to either the United Methodist Church in Sumner or the United Methodist Church in Manchester.
